>>56244273>>56249620gonna combine answers, i think the pokemon world must have some sort of "common" or broadly spoken language, whether it be english, japanese (as, if you follow the logic of paldeans speaking spanish and kalosians speaking french, 4/9 regions thus speak japanese making it the most widely used tongue, which is its own fun can of worms because it begs question like watashi vs ore, dialect, etc) or an entirely unique language. everyone speaks common, bibi is probably nearly monolingual but salvatore's a good teacher, he probably makes sure she can at least understand basic sentences in whatever the most common secondary language in paldea is, let's say spanish and assume common=english, but she also knows a few words and phrases in japanese due to having traveled all over kitakami....but it's all in tohoku dialect, so she sounds kinda like a hick
alto speaks english, japanese, spanish, and german, because what sort of chuunibyou doesn't try learning it at some point? he's got a talent for picking up languages and enjoys studying them as well as immersing himself in foreign media, so he learns fast. while he's native to paldea he's never actually spent a lot of time in the northern areas of the region, bar maybe a ski trip in montenevera once, he's a city boy through and through and didn't care to complete the gym challenge so he spends the bulk of his time in mesagoza and levincia. a childhood vacation to galar brought him to motostoke though, where he and his parents attended a league opening ceremony and some concerts. as little alto saw a zigzagoon rooting around in the trash he begged his parents to catch it for him since it reminded him of a band's lead singer
