I see people complain about PSMD's Gameplay. How it makes your main characters feel "weak" and "forces" you to use other Pokemon. And how it more item based etc.
But is it weird that I personally never had these problems? Never did I feel forced to use other Pokemon. In fact, it felt like I had more choice on the matter than ever before because you get new Pokemon so quickly. As for the more item based experience, I can kinda see that. But I don't think items are that much more important than the other games. And that's coming from an item hoarder. I almost never used my wands.
I personally think PSMD's gameplay the best because it felt more like you need to work as a team. Don't get me wrong, I like the gameplay of the older games as well just fine. But in the older games, I often felt like a "one man army" with your other teammates barely doing anything. In PSMD, teammates feel more active. Sure, enemy Pokemon have higher HP, but your Partner actively helps you with battles. That's how I feel at least.
The only few things I don't like about PSMD's gameplay is that the A button attack is basically useless (but to be fair, Gates had this as well). I wish the A button attack was more like a finishing move (that's how I used the A button attack in the older games).
Other then that, while I like the Connection Orb for the most part, I don't like how it's progression goes earlier on in the game. Like many people said, you get a high leveled Salamence fairly early on in the game which feels strange and out of place that early on. I would love some more reasonable progression in future games where you get lower leveled not as strong mons in the beginning. There are some other problems I have with the Connection Orb, but I feel like it would make this post a little too long. So I'll stop here.
