And yes, the name オーキド (ookido) is directly taken from orchid, オーキッド (ookiddo), because the professors are named after plants, retardo. At best you could say we should adapt it as "Orchd" or something like that to convey the almost unnoticeable difference, but it's not meant to be "Okido".
