>>46108068Best: Kalos or Alola. Outside of the starters, both have great lineups. Lots of outstanding pokemon like gogoat, tyrantrum, salandit, tapu koko, buzzwole, etc. The dexes are small but they make it count.
Honorable mention: Kanto designs are beloved for reasons beyond nostalgia, even if there are a few bland or boring bad eggs. The whole lineup feels very cohesive and "real" in the way they're built and the little traits they share. Even just the level of detail compared to later generation designs is nice.
Worst: Sinnoh really got screwed over. I feel like if it'd had a larger pokedex it wouldn't be here, but as it's too full of hideous legends and poorly done cross gen evos to be any higher, and most of the regular pokemon aren't exactly homeruns either. Great starters though.
(Dis)honorable mention: Galar is shat upon for a reason, and it's not just the quality of the games. There's a lot of questionable choices with the designs, even beyond the worst bunch of starters in the series. Sadly some of the gigantamax forms are really cool (orbeetle and sandaconda come to mind) but it ends up just making the normal pokemon feel incomplete since we all know that shit's getting cut. It also introduced chewtle and duraludon, two of the worst pokemon in the whole franchise. It's a close call between it and Sinnoh but there's more Galar designs that I really like than Sinnoh designs.
