Motivation/worldview has a mix of good reasons and stupid reasons. Which is great! It's neat.
Sort of saw the twist coming, but it definitely puts his (and Toge's) actions into a new light.

Dewott is to blame for at least 80% of his problems, but I get the feeling that Team Shogun definitely isn't helping matters, themselves. (No wonder Dewott doesn't trust the guild, if that's one of his primary references for Teams.)I'm really interested in seeing how these guys develop in the future!
