I've heard mention before that "pokemon with a human profession/job" was an issue, but never stopped to count. This is nuts. These are ALL the jobmons for the first 251 pokemon:
>alakazam (sorta) magician
>machamp (sorta) bodybuilder/strongman
>chansey nurse
>hypno (sorta) hypnotist
>mr. mime mime
>hitmonchan boxer
>hitmonlee....idk what the fuck it is but it counts
>smeargle painter
>slowking (sorta) king
>deliburd santa's helper
>blissey nurse
>tyrogue and hitmontop...maybe, if they count
And unless I'm missing one, that is IT. A tiny handful of other mons have humanish traits like Murkrow being a witch, but that's not a job/profession. The rest are simply all monsters.
How many jobmons does Gen viii have?
>rillaboom drummer
>cinderace athlete
>inteleon spy
>corviknight knight
>theivul thief
>orbeetle mad scientist or whatever the hell it is
>toxtricity rocker
>indeedee maid/butler
>grapploct wrestler
>perrserker viking
>regional farfetch'd samurai/sirfetched is a white knight or some shit
>mr. rime ventriloquist/charlie fucking chaplin
>obstagoon gene simmons furry cosplay
And I'm being very fucking generous with that and not including pre-evos there. However, if you expand the criteria just slightly to also include "based on a human-made object or human activity" it becomes staggering. Easily, EASILY 90% of Gen viii designs fall in this territory.
I think we may have a problem.
