They hit this game's gym level distribution with the johto stick. It still plays very well all things considered though; I consistently find myself fighting things 1-2 levels above me and not really falling that far behind while still having ample XP to train all 6 of my mons, even if I have to be extremely picky about what fights Pikachu can actually take.
