>>54406922>>54411376An example here is Alex Mercer of P1 losing to the MC of P2, although its explained away later. For Red, his losses are acknowledged but just handwaved away. Red is hyped up in other media, such as Adventures and Masters, simply to adhere to how GF has already done so in the main canon. He's not the most popular MC or character in general. Another example is Jonathan from JJBA. In the main canon, Jonathan wouldn't be able to fight or defeat characters past BT, but in vidya he fights stands blow for blow. He has to work within the confines of the game of course, but instead of coming up with some reason for it he simply matches them in speed and strength. He's also not the most popular MC or character in general in JJBA. Red was at his most popular during the pixiv Red/"Redgy" era, and that was disliked by pretty much everyone not involved. That's pretty much how I see it. Personally, I like Red for his design, although I prefer the Gen 1 design and its slight modern tweakings such as pic related over Gen 3 and beyond. I also like Hilbert and Serena just as much, and I also wish they and the rest of the MCs/Rivals would return as older trainers like Red and Blue did in SM/USUM. In fact, my dream pokemon game is a pure fanservice one in the vein of FEE and I wouldn't care if Red was portrayed as the strongest or not, I just want a bigger, better version of the PWT.
