This is much more charming compared to the modern moemon who are just girls who use the same color palette and small motifs of the pokemon they are supposed to be representing. I believe this might be the superior version of moemon because of the funny and charming spritework.
I looked through a /vp/ archive site and cannot find a link with the original source of these roms. I can find one of the versions on pokeharbor that claims i2amroy is the creator, but i cant find anything about this guy.
Apparently there is an emerald version of this version of moemon that has screenshots posted on /vp/ from 2019. I cannot find any links. I have been searching for two weeks.
Does anyone know who made this romhack? I believe this romhack is probably the first moemon hack. If so, why did someone else make a new moemon series and totally change out all of the spritework? The new moemon games have many new and interesting features, but the spritework of this version is just so funny, charming, and intriguing. I am very curious about the story behind all of this but cannot find any answers. Does anyone here know anything about the old spritework and who made it and why it changed drastically over time?
