Also, try to always use the pseudo, and keep Pokemon that fit a 'theme' of the generation. For example, psychics were powerful as fuck in gen 1 so I always have a psychic type in a kanto game, Gen 2 introduced crossgen evos so I use Kingdra, gen 4 takes place in a cold region so I must have an ice type.
It's nice and immersive.
