>>52908993There is indeed a correlation between autism spectrum disorder and being trans, although there isn't any definitive research that can tell us the exact reason. The dominating theory at the moment seems to be that autists care less about societal norms (or don't understand them very well) and have a different view on gender norms.
I wanted to include a link to a related study but 4chan thinks it's spam. Google "Theories on the Link Between Autism Spectrum Conditions and Trans Gender Modality: a Systematic Review" if you want to know more.
If you want my unscientific opinion though, I think that some trannies aren't actually trans, but either think that being a girl would make their life easier and/or simply have a fetish for it. Autists tend to have poor self-awareness as well as wack fetishes so that certainly doesn't help.
Anyway, I digress... Point is, while autism might be rare in women (or at least less commonly diagnosed), there's certainly still women with autism. I see a lot of autistic traits in Nemona. I don't know if GF was trying to hint at it on purpose, but it would explain a lot about her character. Pokemon battling is rather methodical and repetitive, which are things that people on the spectrum tend to be fond of. Logical and repetitive routines usually give comfort to autists because it seems calming in a world where so many things don't follow a strict logic, like social interactions.
