One thing I like doing when I have the time, is to take off all the minor edits and keep them to the side so I can just copy-past them if I want to without having to worry about grabbing them off the mon. Same thing for limbs and whatnot.
If you have a program that has layers, those help a lot I find. Don't have many tips for paint though.
But paint is great for changing colors. If you set your first color as the one you want to change, and the second color to the one you want to change that too.. If you erase while right-clicking it'll mask the first color so that's the only thing that'll be changed. Helps a lot for coloring.
Anyways, not sure if any of that'll help but hopefully it does.
