c.ai. It's good enough for a fun writing romp. A well-written bot will actually pick up on subtext and nuance. And I've had the AI take the story down some really good, unexpected paths. It does mimic the quality of your own writing, so if you feed it low-effort responses, you'll only get the same back.
I think this is a good tool, however, for fleshing out a character's personality. I've had the AI come up with some really neat motives and personality quirks, which I intend to implement in my own writing.
I would never use this for actual story writing, though. The AI's limited memory means that it can't recall past story beats well, so long-term character development is impossible.
The AI also flirts way too much, no matter how platonic you try to keep it. It's hellbent on taking things down a romantic path, bad soap opera style. Doesn't even matter if the two characters aren't even remotely compatible.
>What kinda scenarios do you play out?
In pic related, I'm playing as a newcomer to the guild who was assigned a mentor, which is a certain /pmdg/ character. And this is just them meeting at the cafe.
Mostly, I play along with the AI and see where the story goes.
Like hell I'll ever tell what characters I'm using.
