>When you use an HM, you see the pokemon appear in the overworld. If you use surf, you ride that pokemon. If you use rock smash, you see that pokemon use its standard attack animation on the bolder.
>There are now anywhere up to like 12 or more hms, even the dumb ones like flash, defog, etc
>Pokemon now have 2 additional move slots that can't be used in battle that are for HMS only.
>Normal move slots can also be filled HMS, giving you up to 6 HMs on a single pokemon if you were so inclined
Now heres the kicker.
>HMs can now be used while the pokemon is in the pc
>There is a dedicated HMs button in the menu that pulls up a list of each tm and every pokemon that learns it allowing you to choose which pokemon you want to use the tm. This is on top of also just being able to tap A next to water to surf.
