The snows of Alola's peaks can be quite bitter, so Larvesta were imported to, upon evolution, control the cold climate and ensure it never became too treacherous. But the Larvesta wanted no part in it, and decided to burrow deep underground to slowly adapt to the cold, until eventually emerging with a blue and white coat, evolving into a grand, snowy moth.
A-Volcarona's colors would largely remain the same, but the wings would merge into two broader, lunar moth-like icy blue wings that fluttered a trail of diamond dust behind. Its horn-like antennae would vaguely resemble pieces of a snowflake and become icy blue as well, and it would no longer curl its thorax forward but instead lean at a face-forward angle.
