Humans actually have a lot of brain functions that we take for granted. How do you know where your body ends and the world begins? Or where your arms and legs are? And... how much time do you think has passed since you started reading this post? I imagine that these sorts of senses would totally shut down inside a ball. On the plus side, it's probably quite dreamy... on the minus, you have no idea if you've been in there for three days or three years. Spooky.
