I don't see the problem with either, some megas are good and some gigantamaxes are good while some of both are just bad, but keeping them locked to specific generations (or at least time-locked for years on end) is a terrible idea. Doubly so for gigantamax, because a lot of 2 stage Galar-native pokemon get cucked out of the symbolic 3rd stage this way.
