Gen 4 s the only gen that i'd say it was awful pokemon-wise, Carnivine, Rotom, Cherrim, Floatzel, Mothim...those things are awful...only good designs were Staraptor, Toxicroack and Drapion.
At leas Gen 6 had interesting characters like AZ, Sycamore, Corrina, Diantha and good Pokemon like Meowstick, Heliolisk, Talonflame, Noivern, Aeglishlash....
