For one, because of the size difference and common plasticity in pokemon sizes as portrayed versus dex citations, I was never sure how the blocking would really work. I tried to focus its narrative only on the parts that mattered (one claw against his arm, other free, and enough covering Hague's chest to ensure his free arm was all he could move) and let Reader's imagination bail me out for the rest of it. orz

It's (probably) been many years since she's seen Cedon, and when he finally does appear, he drops off a sack of garbage and leaves without so much as a chirp "hello." That's pretty much the opposite of what she would've hoped for in him paying a call, so I'm happy to read from it a sense of her disappointment.
Bonus track: Pic related is a few concepts Exec drew up of some supporting cast members somewhat relevant to this moment, since all are linked through Simon and his grumpy phoenix.
