I was out of Pokemon at the time, so I saw it as dumb pandering and more evidence that things were WAY better on the original Game Boy. A year or two later when I started playing again, Lopunny became one of my favorite Pokemon. Mostly because I named mine Dizzy, only for it to learn Dizzy Punch a few levels later. Stupid shit like that can go a long way to endear me.
