N and Silver are battling Norman and Brendan, but despite both having Legendary Pokémon, they can only tie. Nate shows up and tells N that Ghetsis has been spotted, and N tells Silver his history with Ghetsis, to which Silver feels empathy for. Ghetsis approaches N with an offer to be a family again, but N is hesitant, so Ghetsis gives him time to think. Nate is upset that N didn't try to apprehend him, but Silver lashes out at him for assuming that everyone has the same background and feelings as him. N consults Alder, and Alder admits that he thinks Ghetsis can't be trusted. N comes to his decision and meets Ghetsis later with the others. N tells him that he can't call him father, but as long as he doesn't do anything, it's not his job to go after him. Ghetsis reveals it's a trap and attacks Zekrom so he can make Black Kyurem, but Giovanni shows up and double crosses him, knowing Ghetsis' nature, and uses the opportunity to try and get both Zekrom and Kyurem for himself with Team Break reinforcements. As Kyurem is being attacked, N decides to help Ghetsis only to save Kyurem, and Nate joins in. They manage to hold off Mewtwo, and Ghetsis wants to keep fighting, but N convinces him to drop it and for them to escape. Giovanni begins to pursue them with his flunkies when Silver comes in on his own, refusing to let him go any further. Giovanni asks him what he can do to stop him, and Silver sends out Ho-Oh. Giovanni is surprised and calls off the pursuit, saying he's pretty happy right now as things are, and Silver leaves. Outside, Ghetsis mocks N, Nate, and Alder while Nate gets emotional. Ghetsis leaves and N tells him if he does anything, he will stop him, but silently laments that part of him wished for a father.
