A friend got me excited for XY and Animal Crossing so I got a 3DS to play both. It was boring generation and made me wonder if the games had always been so child-oriented.
Played Sun because my bf was keen to play Moon. I thought SM were great because they didn't stick the same narrative structure. Lost interest after finishing the main quest

A friend at work was really into competitive Pokemon and showed me an entirely new game underneath the cartoony and child friendly exterior. He and I would pit teams against each other and I would sometimes win until after the PokeBank update and he imported his real battle team.
Since then I'm more interested in completing the pokedex and having PvP for fun. Pokemon Go is a lot of casual fun too.
