Okay. I'm just gonna ask it. Is Smogon fundamentally wrong? I've been looking at some Pokemon that have been outstanding assets to my team in online battles with /vp/. Namely Galvantula and Drifblim. I'm no expert by any means at all, but I've been doing fairly well in most of my battles with this fine board. I've taken on Garchomp teams before and won/came very close to winning with these Pokemon. But according to Smogon, both Galvantula and Drifblim are less than stellar choices to play, yet alone lead with. And my Galvantula has been my lead in most of my battles. I understand that perhaps I've fought some trainers less experienced than I, but it seems t be a somewhat common occurrence. In the strategies that I've read on Smogon, it seems that every strategy relies on the opponent's behavior, rather than your own. They seem to be so caught up in Stealth Rock, that they seem to have completely eliminated all Bug, Ice, and Flying types from any team they deem successful. It seems that they have forgotten to factor in one thing: Unpredictability. But then again, many of the users of Smogon could hand my ass to me in any battle any day of the week. But I have to ask. Is there more to it then what Smogon sees?
