Because it's pokemon. The creature designs and the pvp has always been the standout part of the series. If those points aren't selling it for you then go play literally any other JRPG. I guarantee you'll find it more fulfilling then the most entry level gaming series in existence.
Seriously, go play SMT Nocturne. That game shits on your favorite pokemon campaign, I assure you.
