Slightly longer answer is that Bell should be able to function as a proper member of society had she not taken the whole "you are the hero of your own story" bit literally and molded her life around it. Assuming there is no immediate risk of violent death, she's gonna take the "fun route" to whatever likely detriment it may cause... even if she seems like she's gonna be sensible about things. Were she to end up in basically any view of the setting that "idyllic" she'd fold even if she simply cut the shit and tried to live normally.
