If you want to remove all human aspects to pokemon (and to try to connect with pokemon as teammates/friends), definitely try out the mystery dungeon games as they are pretty good games on their own. I've heard most say Explorers of Sky is the best one. PMD DX is pretty good too; Super takes a few hours to get going but is also good.
