In the middle of fucking Dexit, Digimon was staging a massive comeback with a new card game, two new anime, a new Digivice that doubles as a Fitbit, and re-releasing some of their better current gen games on every platform. And not a single Pokemon fan paid ANY attention to any of it. Everyone was viciously anti-Yokai Watch the moment the WSJ called it a "Pokemon Killer", even though the 3rd game and Blasters are the exact sort of shake-up to the Monster Battling format that people always dream of Pokemon having. Monster Rancher and SMT even came back to offer their own unique spins on the genre and they were ignored.
Dokev could do everything Pokemon fails to do and Pokefags will try their damnedest to bury it and go Stockholm Syndrome on Gen IX.
