>>36491777The potential achieved here serves a function, and that function is clearly battle. It increases the power of the Pokemon in question.
Which, in the context of the games/show is needed to overcome whatever villain of the week happens to be threatening the peace of the world.
Without such a conflict, the need to become ridiculously strong does not exist. And people and Pokemon can go about their daily lives without worry or care. Bonding with Pokemon is not a thing which is exclusive to battle.
We are shown hundreds of times that Pokemon work in Hospitals, or in stores, or moving furniture, or helping at construction sites, etc etc etc..
Pokemon are not just animals. They possess a very human-like intelligence to be able to comprehend and understand most of what we say. And as such, we do a disservice to them when we treat them like slaves or pets.
>>36491790I didn't get very far into the plot of that game..
>>36491801>You can't just deny what's engraved into your DNAYes you can, and we do it every day. We overcome our barbaric nature in search of peace, and greater understanding.
