And if one of your issues is that it's "casual friendly" you need to do some more evaluation, because not only is official Pokémon likely the most casual friendly RPG ever made, but the idea that you're threatened by more casual players enjoying the thing you enjoy makes you seem like some kind of elitist.
You also list bans of certain Pokémon as some kind of unsportsmanlike behavior. I don't see it like that at all, the bans are done because that's what the general Smogon public has decided will make the game more fair. Now I may think that trying to make an RNG-based battle system more fair is a fruitless endeavor, but if it makes my opponent feel less like he lost unfairly, I think it may be something more healthy for the community surrounding those rulesets.
If you have a problem with it, ignore it or don't play by their rules.
Just my thoughts but, then again, what do I know? Considering I only really play VGC and when I want to play singles against someone I ask if I can bring Ash-Greninja.
