This. A franchise that I once held in high regard is now having their blatantly self-serving business decisions being defended by blind fanboys, coattail-riding sycophants, and anons who couldn't give a shit one way or the other but pretend to be on the side of The Pokemon Company just to piss off the people who actually give a shit about the direction of this franchise.

And the sad thing is, I can only see two outcomes to this. One: the hysteria dies down and the paying consumer base leaves out of pure boredom, leaving the franchise to collapse under a lack of support, or two: The Pokemon games will continue on it's slow burn of mediocrity until it comes to a point where literally everything is grossly paywalled. And people will STILL defend it, ironically or otherwise.

Start up the game again somewhat excited to play, only to be immediately hit with a sudden empty feeling that you got pretty much every Pokemon this game can possibly have. You could mindlessly grind for a shiny or competitive Pokemon. But the motivation has lost its luster since in less than a year's time, a new game with a different roster will release and everyone will move to that one, making it feel like you wasted your time
