>>53865401The problem, in all honesty, is that Pokémon games as a concept are fucked due to Pokémon's existence as a multimedia franchise where every element of it is expected to connect to itself in some way.
The fact that there are video games, cards, anime, and toys, which are all supposed to be developed and released in the same time frames, to form discrete generations, kneecaps the develop of Pokémon games hard.
Theoretically, they COULD delay games, and to be completely honest, I actually don't think most people would be too upset if they did. That's not the problem. The problem is that they WON'T do that. They won't delay the games, because they insist on doing things the way they've been doing. They insist on each generation being three years apart, and they insist that all the content for that new generation gets dropped in that same year. I don't think general audiences would care if they broke away from this, especially when you consider how many Ashnime fans don't really care about the games, or how many game fans don't really care about the Ashnime. Pokémon Go came out the same year as SM, but most people getting into Go had no idea SM were even a thing when I asked if they were excited for them.
It really is just the Pokémon Company's stubbornness that's killing their games.
