ok, so basically the evil team concept proposed is that there's 3 evil teams with different designs that each have different goals and are backing northington so they can reach their goal at the golden city as well as the golems. And northington looks scruffy at first because he's been researching legends for years but in the final battle he's cleaned up and is all fancy and smug.
The idea's warmed up to me, as long as it's clear they're all working together at some point.
