Serena's probably the one female companion who I changed my opinion on drastically. In the first year of XY I was kinda bored or indifferent with her, I only liked the fact that she wasn't annoying like Iris, but still didn't really care for her. However by the end of XY Serena turned out to one of my favorites.
How did that happen? If you told me back in 2013/2014 that Serena would wind up being one of my favorite female characters in the anime, I would have laughed.
