Serena is the one who supported ash the most. Remember when Serena got mad at ash and threw snowballs at him saying that’s not the ash she knows and likes. That’s one wake up call when Serena scolds you.
Battle wise, misty is bad for a gym leader. Dawn is way better as a battler, while iris would win with dragonite alone, may’s Blaziken when she faced ash’s sceptile in the contest? So far she still couldn’t beat ash with a mega gyarados which is sad.
Plus Serena is way cuter.
