>>38325836>>38325934>>38326054I think there isn't a need for a pseudo Light/Angelic type because a pure Flying monster would imply that it's not Normal but still an incarnation of a monster who's always in flight.
Pure Flying types should be the next "holy"/"light"/"angel" type desu. A designated healer type is a bit dull, imagine if Grass went that route like it Gen 1 had dabbled in. *shudders* Healing should be something every type can do except Dark
Flying is the only type that hasn't had it's wrinkles ironed out. There is a single mono flying type. And it's a kami of bagged wind and tornados... we could have
>angels>griffins>harpies>cloud monsters>air elementals>a wailord that is as light as it's blimp inspired dex entry implies. Flying as it stands is at best an attribute. It could be removed entirely and substituted for a background battle mechanic like the Sky battles roster implied.
Type fixing by Gen
Gen 2
>psychic-nerfedGen 3
>dark, ghost, steel, fighting, ice, dragonGen 4
>steel, poison, ice, dragonGen 5
>bug, electric, dragon, darkGen 6
>flying**, dragon-nerfed, ghost, steel-nerfedGen 7
>bug, fairy, grass, psychicAdmittedly Dark, Fighting and Flying are the weakest type concepts. One is moral perception/deception. The next is a monster that represents a physical style of fighting. And the last is somewhat-airborne the type. A lot of literally flying monsters aren't Flying typed. Not to mention most Psychic types can levitate. Also Leviate as an ability doesn't offer the same boosts while being functionally the same approach. We could go two gens without a single Normal/Flying type and no one would mind.
So the question is, what actually makes a Flying type if it isn't a Bird type analogue
