Maybe I'm just becoming a boomer, but some of the changes moving to a more modern game are pretty annoying. The sound design and battle animations in particular feel really 'soft' and bad in my opinion. Some of the sounds are almost painful. And in general the semi-3D overworld just feels, again, softer, as well as kind of washed out. The totally flat stuff from before just felt really sharp and distinct, which I really liked.
That being said, getting some nostalgia going through Silver, and having my favorite Pokemon (Quilava) is great. The following thing is really cool too, although the fact that it's the first mon in your party is pretty obnoxious given switch training is basically mandatory, to the point of it being taught in the goddamn school.
