I wish we had some backstory on her since she looks pretty unnatural compared to most other characters in SV, especially her big eyes and tentacle hair. I have two headcanons though. One is that she's native to Kalos and came to Paldea later which explains why she uses gigashitmons like Avalugg and Gogoat. The second is that she was "raised" as a kid by a herd of Glimmoras before being found, which is why her hair resembles them.
