It took on an art style all its own when compared to the gen I games, and introduced a plethora of new Pokemon that, love or hate, added some welcome variety. Pokegear was a bit of a hassle to work with, but unless you were out and about looking for rematches, people would at worst call -you-, which didn't involve you doing any more than pressing the A button.
