>>55353168>>55353174>>55353206>>55353388>>55353519The issue is that those all existed only as justifications for gameplay mechanics, the baseline was still a regular kid adventuring out into the countryside to catch and battle monsters, and the logistics of that needed to be explained somehow in-universe and because the setting was *grounded* they went with technology instead of magic or supernatural means. It's no different than a farmer using a tractor and other machinery on their farm, it's still a rustic place and the farmer is still not a techie, they're only occasionally interacting with the tech as much it's necessary to grow their farm i.e. the goal is organic but some of the tools happen to be technology.
Meanwhile gen 3 and later Pokemon starts with tech as the baseline and then looks for way to utilize and justify that tech (instead of the other way around), it's actively trying to have a sci-fi appeal like futuristic IPs like Mega Man, Overwatch, or Mass Effect whose primary concern is coming up with cool flashy future tech stuff to show off. The Pokemon are just an organic byproduct in the whole thing, it's like a cutting edge lab inventing new farming technology, the goal of the lab is creating the tech, and the produce is just a side effect they need to have in order to test the tech.
In short
>before>we need to explain this mechanic, let's just say a machine did it>now>we have this cool new Pokemon tech idea, what do we do with it
