not really, he's just generic to me, although charmander is pretty cute. that said he's kinda overhated here, it's not his fault gf has to tear other mons down for him to look better. although most other fire starters don't really look better either imo besides delphox and typhlosion.

THE ONLY REASON GEN 2 DOESN'T FALL PERFECTLY INTO THE CHINESE ZODIAC IS BECAUSE IT WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED TO BE THE END OF THE FRANCHISE. THEY DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE GONNA KEEP DOING THIS SHIT FOR 20 MORE YEARS.

The zodiac pattern was most likely an after thought that emerged during gen 3 or 4.

Tried to give him an interesting niche over just a generic strong wallbreaker. The ability acts like a stronger expert belt to make use of Typhlosions impressive coverage options.

Speed increase makes it play differently than Zard Y or X. It's not nearly as powerful as either nor does it have as good of a defensive typing, but its capable of beating dangerous Pokemon that both struggle with such as Toxapex and Garchomp 1 on 1.

2. Focus Blast
3. Hidden Power Ice/ Hidden Power Grass
4. Extrasensory/Work Up/Toxic

Fire Blast is STAB and hits hard off 149 SpA. It's ability also ensures nothing weak to it will try to play any mind games. Focus Blast has a chance to OHKO Specially Defensive Heatran after Stealth Rock and any non AV Tyranitar. Hidden Power Ice OHKOs Landorus-T and Garchomp, Grass KOs Mega Swampert and does a huge amount to Hippowdon. Extrasensory is used to 2HKO Toxapex.
