It learns an 80BP STAB move at level 16. Even in gen 1. That’s fucking insane in a generation where the only other moves with that kind of power are SUPER end-game or locked behind selling your soul to the gambling devil.
It’s also speedy and can hit pretty hard for a good third of the game, and can even pull its weight later on if you abuse Super Fang and its hysterically huge TM pool (or, in later generations, it’s very good level-up set that includes shit like Swords Dance, Endeavour, STAB Double-Edge and Crunch)
This thing is a fucking menace and honestly a joy to use under the right circumstances
No comment on its alolan form because I played gen 7 twice and hated both times, but Watchog can be given similar praise (if to a lesser extent- despite having higher stats, the poor thing has a way way worse move pool which is only hurt further by the fact that it isn’t from gen 1 so it doesn’t get retarded shit like Bubble Beam via TM and that greatly hurts its possible coverage)
