>>39576300Really for the 3DS human character models, they weren't as future-proofed as the Pokémon (although those start to show their age as well)
You see the models from Gen 6 and you notice that the pinky and ring finger are merged into one, the mouths are fully modeled but they don't have much expression beyond grinning, additionally these were given to a very arbitrary amount of characters and seen unfrequently (like why the fuck is every member of Team Flare fully modeled?)
On Gen 7, while the characters have objetively less polygons and some constrained proportions, I believe these are better stylized for the game, and they show at all times during battle (at the cost of chugging the framerate even more but alas), the mouths are textures in most cases which limits the amount of expression per character but they have very specific emotions. Really a case were quantity is better than quality.
The models from Masters are really a small step up from the ones on 3DS (just look at the wrists of the characters and you can see where the corners are cut) but capture the Sugimori artstyle quite well, even if his style has actually changed along the years. Without trying to translate those old designs into his newer style.
The real test of fire is going to be comparing Bianca's model from BW2 with the one used in Masters holy shit.
