>>45048134>>45048171>>45048219So the best reasonable measurement of the mainline games I can find are from the sales wiki that put JUST THE MAINLINE games at roughly 55 - 60% of total video game revenue as cited by the general wiki article on highest grossing franchises. And I'm sure I don't need to explicitly mention all the potential holes in that data. And again, those shitty mobile games really skew shit and I do hate it.
>Never said they did, also never implied it. That BFV example was me showing that profit ultimately matters more than big numbers, nothing more. That's why I find you bringing up how much the games sell outside of a raw "popularity" sense weird. The games are popular as fuck, do not get me wrong, but I doubt they'd be outselling the merch it's up against.I mean that part of the conversation was about profitability to begin with, so that's why I kept bringing it up. As for that last part, show me a piece of non-vidya Pokemon merch that sells more than 16 million units. I think you'll be hard pressed to. I would be surprised if one specific piece reached even 5 million.
>Of course. Let me remind you that Pokemon has no excuse for its shitty quality aside from greed, laziness, or stubbornness. The games should be in a much better spot than they are now, but for whatever fucking reason, they aren't. No defending that from me.I'm thankful for that, last thing we need is more SWSH apologists. I wanted that game to be good, so fucking badly. All it needed was a few more months in the oven.
>>45048249Could have had that without cutting Pokemon from the fucking game. Gamefreak could have trusted longterm fans to transfer over their favorites instead of catching them in the most current game. Could have even used it as a selling point to go back and buy old stock. "Hey kids want a Garchomp to kick ass in SWSH? You can find it in Sun and Moon and bring it to Galar through Home!" The idea sells itself.
