They've backed themselves into this corner by graphicfagging out the ass, making story a focus rather than adventure/exploration and finding shit out on your own, and also not allowing 3D side series RPGs games to be made because they're graphicfagging.
The last one in particular is stupid because having shit like Stadium and Colosseum worked perfectly fine for scratching the graphic and animation itch for those who had it and no one would've cared if they didn't have all species at once unlike the main series.
Although tealistically, that should've been in the plan by default - a side series battle sim game that would be continuously updated into the future with new species. Ideally it would release for each platform with everything available up to when it released but if they're going to continuously update anyway it wouldn't matter much if it was released incomplete because it would always shortly be incomplete as new main series released.
