Real-life Champions' League seasons can be divided into the Hinrunde (1st half of the season, lasting from August till December) and the Rückrunde (2nd half, lasting from February until the summer). In between the two, there's an approximately one month window of time called the Winterpause that clubs can sign and sell up to 3 players. Likewise, in the UEFAlocke, you can swap out up to 3 Pokemon AFTER you have beaten the 5th gym, but BEFORE you have beaten the 6th. You also have to follow the following rules:
1.) You cannot swap out an injured (i.e. fainted) Pokemon. Nobody wants to buy damaged goods, no matter how good they are. See Radamel Falcao, Marco Reus, Fernando Torres for examples.
2.) Before swapping, you have to randomly generate 3 Pokemon. You may only pick Pokemon to swap from that list.
3.) Your team after the swap must STILL follow the home-grown rule. If your randomly generated list of 3 Pokemon to swap don't let you follow that rule, you may generate another 3-Pokemon list as many times as you need until it becomes possible for you to follow the home-grown rule.
4.) You may swap less than 3 times (including none at all) but you may not swap more than that.
>LEVEL CAP
Your Pokemon may not be more than 12 levels higher than the highest levelled opponent you have faced so far. If your Pokemon ever get higher than that, you may not use them again until you face an opponent powerful enough for you to raise the level cap. If all of your Pokemon are above the level cap, you may not do unnecessary battles until the level cap has been raised again. This is to prevent you from winning thanks to mindless grinding alone.
>ITEMS
The maximum number of items you may use per battle is equal to the number of Pokemon your opponent's party has. You can use as many items as possible outside of battle (except Revive-like items, of course.)
Any of you guys have suggestions for other rules?
