Oddly I and a friend weaved a salvageable story with enough weird head canon and such..here are the following changes or alterations made to the story:
>Have Bede, Marnie and Hop actually have a fucking role more than "muh rival" and following around the protag later as a cheer squad

>Turns out there were sects of worship, usually with Galarian royalty pushing specific faiths/beliefs. Mainsteam Calyrex and Arceus worship and in the shadows worship of Eternatus as a life purging natural force meant to end all life. (Ends up some weird ass Illuminati shit with Bede being taken and raised as some sort of sleeper agent for Rose and Macro Cosmos as well as Rose and Oleana actually knowing Marnie and Piers' parents prior to their death. The parents having been well head priest and priestess of the Eternatus Cult.)
>Sordward and Shielbert remain wacky but in a more competent way being zealot believers of Arceus/Calyrex(Think Templar and Crusader shit) and their plan with the legendary heroes is to be revised to wishing to harness and control Zacian and Zamazenta as to fulfill their own self value as heirs to the throne. (Despite Calyrex in this case wishing for a new order of things and an abolishment of the old)
>New legendaries including Deer Brain and Chad Martial artist have bigger involvement in lore as per how Eternamax Eternatus was defeated last time.
>King Az of the Kalos region and setting off that fucking weapon is responsible 3000 years ago for Eternatus waking from it's regenerative slumber
