My starter/partner would be a Houndour, eventually evolving into a Houndoom. Received from a family member when I was young, it scared the other kids, which made it sad. When I styled it and helped it look friendlier, the other kids wanted to play with it, which made it happier, and made us good friends.
I'd like to run a famous fancy pokemon makeover boutique in Lumiose, styling and taking care of rich people's pokemon for contests, shows and movies, or just to look good. Usual customers include gym leaders and elite four members, televison personalities and actors, contest stars, and other various rich elite. I'm pretty good with people, so I expect I'd make a few friends with my clientele, and end up with quite a few connections in high places. I'd make the pokemon look better and as a byproduct become much closer to its trainer. Maybe I'd operate a temporary store in Castelia once in a while, and do a short, one season "how to" makeover tv show when I have the time. Once I'd made enough money, I'd travel the world providing free makeovers and spa treatments to travelling trainer's pokemon. I'd be "stealing from the rich and giving back to the poor" without actually doing any harm. Eventually, I'd retire in Sandgem, offering free or low cost makeover/spa services to people who came to me (although I would keep my location a secret, as not to attract tons of visitors, just close friends and neighbors).
The rest of my team would be Arbok, Kirlia, Tropius, Rowlet and Pumpkaboo. All very friendly with each other and new people, but none of them great at battling.
