I fully advocate giving fully evolved Pokemon to early-game Gym Leaders, provided they're neutered enough to be at your level without being a huge threat. Take Probopass. Its offenses are deceptively low, with a fucking 55 base Attack stat. That's lower than some Starters.
It may be a lil scummy, but you gotta learn to handle tough shit that's thrown on you, whether it hurts your feefees or not.
