They could sell me literally the same game once more, and I'd still have fun with it, because by the time a new one comes out after 3-4 years, I'll have little memory left of my last time playing pokemon, it'll still feel fresh, and (arguably more important than the gamplay itself) I'll be surrounded by friends and randoms in the entire world that are sharing that moment with me.
The absolute despair that envelops people when Pokemon just fails to "get better" only hits you if you're the kind of person that never stops to incessantly play pokemon between installments.
For everyone else it just never stopped being "good".
