I've been playing Pokemon ever since RBY days. I've played at least one game from every generation and have sometimes gone as far as buying all of them for a Gen, so I've really grown up with the series.
However, in the most recent years, I've been playing a ton of other monster collecting RPGs in order to try to expand my repertoire and am still budgeting to try some other games too. In the meantime, I've encountered a problem.I've honestly been struggling to get back into Pokemon due to how slow the games are. I can't even spend more than an hour trying to play my old copy of HGSS, my nostalgic Red Version or even the newest flop in USUM because of how slow everything is.
>I've grown to hate random encounters cuz the game just slows you down by trapping you inside a mathematic formula just for wanting to walk.
>Even when you're not dealing with random encounters, your progression is slowed down by enforced NPC battles that you aren't allowed to say no or run from.
>I've come to realize they slow you down even further by drawing out the animation to show you what you're encountering/the NPC you're battling and feel the need to waste more time with the PokeBall animation for your own monster.
>Battles themselves take forever even with the animations turned off due to them needing to bog you down with text to let you know whether the opponent is weak or not and showing you its draining HP bar.
I just have too much trouble trying to enjoy Pokemon as much as I used to. All the other RPGs I've been playing recently have given you more freedom or at least some method to speed things up. Does anybody else have this problem? Perhaps I've just gotten too used to faster gameplay. Thanks for reading and listening to me complain.
